The Willow’s at the Woodman’s Autumn Wedding

Sarah + Liam chose a relatively venue for their stunning wedding day in October. The Willow’s at the Woodman’s near Whickham is one Newcastle wedding venue I hadn’t been to before, so it was a real treat to photograph a wedding there for such a lovely couple on the most perfect autumn day.

Rachael of Jasmine & Pear Flowers did the most incredible job with seasonal flowers like dahlias and hellebores for Sarah and her 3 bridesmaids bouquets. She also dressed the fireplace in the ceremony room to match.

Sarah and her bridesmaids got ready in a cottage at Black Horse Beamish, which they all stayed in the night before the wedding. When I arrived I was blown away by the space, it was huge and filled with natural light. Absolute photographers dream!

After an emotional ‘first look’ with her brother (who was walking her down the aisle and “giving her away”) Sarah made the short journey from Black Horse Beamish across to The Willow’s at the Woodman’s by car.

For full day weddings, both of my packages include a second photographer. This is someone that I work with regularly and trust to shoot in a similar candid style to me, which means that in the early parts of the day when things are happening at the same time in different locations, between us we have everything covered and the gallery will show the full story.

The ceremony was super emotional and gorgeous (shout out to Gateshead Registrars!) and again, the natural light in the ceremony room was absolutely fantastic, with huge windows right along one side of the room. Love!

After the ceremony we headed to the front of The Willow’s for confetti shots and then as the guests settled into the bar area with drinks, the wedding party and I headed back into the ceremony room where we completed Sarah + Liam’s short list of requested group shots. I absolutely loved being able to shoot these indoors as it’s so much more comfortable on a cool, breezy autumn day for guests to not have to hang around outside getting cold or squinting into the sunshine.

With speeches from Sarah’s brother, Liam and his brother Kieran, Liam’s dad gave a heartwarming and hilarious speech that included a personal voicenote from none other than Alan Shearer!

A delicious wedding breakfast was served, we as photographers were incredibly well taken care of by Sarah + Liam and the staff at The Willow’s at the Woodmans, I had the most incredible chicken dish I think I’ve ever eaten. Later, the couple were announced back into the room to cut their cake and have the traditional first dance, then the couple asked all their guests to join them on the dance floor and the party really got going!
